Welcome back!
Don't worry, if you are getting tired of reading about my work history and bio, I will be done shortly, and I will start to post more about my experience on my current journey.
I have about a year completed at Athabasca University. The program I was enrolled in was focused on Accounting and Commerce. I have taken courses like Leadership, Management, Intro to Accounting, and Business Law 1. I studied at various universities over the years and then transferred the credits to Athabasca University. At Athabasca University, it is easy to start a new course and work at your own pace. My education has been interrupted on several occasions due to life events, workload and moving around in the military.
As I was on my way out of the military for medical reasons, I completed a semester of business school at St Lawrence College in Ontario. I learned Microsoft Office programs, writing, and some business fundamentals. Attending this school was a great experience. It was during the pandemic and all from home but I learned how to use Microsoft Teams and was still able to stay in contact with my instructors. They had career development activities and it is a great place to network for professional connections. However, I decided that the business and administration focus would not be a good fit for me. I also wanted less of a course load. So I decided to drop the program.
This brings me to now. I began studying at Academy of Learning. I am taking their Software and Web Developer program. I am able to make my own schedule, and keep my activities to four hours a day. This enables me to balance my other responsibilities.
That concludes my formal education history. I am going to go deeper into other vocational courses or skills in my next post.
