Hello!

Today my course talked about networking. In business school they also talked about this. I already had a LinkedIn account and happened to already have joined a group on Meetup.com. Tonight was my first time meeting with the group virtually. It was an excellent experience. I sat and listened as they talked. I think they are all working in the field of software development. I would google things as they were talking. Some things went over my head, but a lot of the terminology I learned on my course helped me to get an idea of what they were saying.

They were very nice, and I was able to ask questions. I have to remember slow and steady wins the race. After hearing them speak, its easy to feel inferior or overwhelmed because I have so much to learn. But they were very reassuring. They answered many questions and I feel like this one exposure helped me to learn so much more. I know that if I continue to attend these meetings, I will continue to pick things up!

As for LinkedIn. I am stumbling along, trying to engage with people. I am learning as I go. I know that networking can be beyond following someone's feed or just having them as a connection. I know that engagement helps to build relationships. I will keep practicing!
